Arslan and I have, like many others, our ups and downs. We drive each other crazy, piss each other off and make each other sad. But what I learned from being with him is that, no matter how bad things are, it doesn’t mean that you should give up. We’ve had lots of moments where it felt like giving up was the only option. I’m glad that we didn’t chose that route. Ever. I’m glad that both of us were willing to fight for what we have; to keep it.
These time lapses document the change in the world over the past 30 years. Islands have popped up; forests have declined; ice has melted.
Such a terrifying, beautiful thing.

I wish people wouldn’t just see me as the Asian girl who beats everyone up, or the Asian girl with no emotion. People see Julia Roberts and Sandra Bullock in a romantic comedy, but not me. You add race to it, and it became, ‘Well she’s too Asian’, or ‘She’s too American’. I kind of got pushed out of both categories. It’s a very strange place to be. You’re not Asian enough and then you’re not American enough.
I love her. She pretty.
